The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the General Hospital of Vienna aims to provide the highest standard of care possible. We diagnose and treat patients according to the current “state of the art” and in line with results and evidence from research. In addition, we treat patients in accordance with the mission of the General Hospital of Vienna and patient well-being is at the center of our work.

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is split into the:

  • Division of General Psychiatry (Head: Univ.Prof. Dr.med. Dan Rujescu)
  • Division of Social Psychiatry (Head: Univ.Prof. Dr.med. Johannes Wancata).


Outpatients are treated at our outpatient clinic (Level 5, main entrance) which is available for patients without prior registration Mo-Fr, 08:00-10:00. Attention - during the COVID pandemic please make an appointment at Tel: 40400-35430!

Our emergency outpatient clinic is available around the clock for psychiatric emergencies.

In addition, various specialized outpatient clinics tend to patients with specific psychiatric disorders and mental health problems.
